The Cast of Intimate Apparel

David Dear, George Armstrong
David joins us for his Harlequin debut. David’s family moved around a lot when he was young, but he finally settled in Tacoma in the late 70s and has performed at Tacoma Little Theatre (Soldier/Narrator in The Man in The Colored Museum, Mike Talman in Wait Until Dark, Lymon in The Piano Lesson and Walter Lee in A Raisin in the Sun) and Lakewood Playhouse (Homer Smith in Lilies of the Field). He would like to dedicate this performance to his late grandmother, paying homage to her childhood home of Barbados.

Deya Ozburn, Mrs. Van Buren
We welcome Deya in her Harlequin debut! Originally from California, she studied acting at Columbia College and tech and stage management at Sierra Repertory Theatre (Sonora, CA). Regionally, she has played Ross in Macbeth (Theater Artists Olympia), Corrie Ten Bloom in a touring production of The Hiding Place (The Attic Theatre), Sara Harding in The Accrington Pals (Exchange Theater, Seattle), Charlie in State Fair (Sierra Rep, CA) and Babe Botrelle in Crimes of the Heart (Olympia Little Theater). She received a 2003 “Volcano Award” for her portrayal of Rachel Brown in Inherit the Wind. Deya is a seven-time produced playwright and member of The Northwest Writers Foundation. She would like to thank Ma, the cast and crew and her theater family.
LaVon Hardison, Esther Mills
LaVon appeared most recently in Harlequin’s Operation Stardust as Loretta Mae, a role she also played the previous year in The Twelfth Night of Stardust. She has done numerous corporate and state video and voiceover projects for various clients, and occasionally is recognized as the “Ergonomics Lady.” She has the curious distinction of having replaced Raymond Burr as the judge in the official Washington State jury instructional video. Away from the theater, this Boston native is a singer and songwriter. This spring she will release her third album, entitled Everyday Gifts. She is delighted to be working with Harlequin.
Amber Wolfe, Mayme
We also welcome Amber in her Harlequin debut! Favorite roles include Mistress Quickly in Merry Wives of Windsor (Wooden O Theatre), Ruby in Halcyon Days (Seattle Public Theater) and Queen Elizabeth in Richard III (Seattle Shakespeare Company). Amber works as a teaching artist in Seattle area schools. Programs include: Seattle Children’s Theatre, Rainier Valley Youth Theatre and Youth Theatre Northwest. She is mentored by SAFD Fight Master Geof Alm and is working toward teaching stage combat professionally. Amber also fronts the band Miss Mamie Lavona the Exotic Mulatta and her White Boy Band. Special thanks to her piano coach, Will Hyman.
Jason Haws, Mister Marks
Jason is a Harlequin veteran. Favorite roles include Ian in The Ladies of the Camellias, Bottom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Prince in Romeo and Juliet, Andie Ryan in And a Nightingale Sang, Sam in Phantom of the Stardust, Mortimer in The Constant Wife, Brendan in The Weir, Time in The Winter’s Tale, Turai in Rough Crossing, Maggs in Hapgood, Adrian and the Boatswain in The Tempest and a priest in Murder in the Cathedral. Other local roles include Richard in Fuddy Meers, Adam in Someone Who’ll Watch Over Me, Pseudolus in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Finch in How to Succeed in Business, Captain Hook in Peter Pan, The Pirate King in Pirates of Penzance, and Cogsworth in Beauty and the Beast. Jason has directed numerous shows for children and is going into his sixth season as director of Creative Theatre Experience’s Showcase program. Cheers to magical Emma and beautiful Liz. You are my shining stars.

Vanessa E. Lichty, Mrs. Dickson
We welcome Vanessa in her Harlequin debut! Vanessa is a third generation Washingtonian who resides in Tacoma with her wonderful husband Gary and their two fabulous children, Zoë and Zaev. In 2007, Vanessa won the Richard Odlin Awards for Best Debut Performance for her performance in Dreamgirls at Tacoma Little Theatre. Vanessa dedicates this performance to all the strong women in her family: her mother Louise Haggins; her sisters, Viveca Tarrant and Vivian Jones; and in loving memory of her grandmother, Bobbie Elizabeth Chisholm. Born in 1902 in South Carolina, Bobbie worked her away across the US doing all kinds of jobs, including hard labor on railroads, so that her children would have the opportunity to get a good education.
