Lewis & Clark and the
End of the World

LEWIS & CLARK & THE END OF THE WORLD
by Bryan Willis
Touring 2005-2006

Just three years after his famous expedition across an uncharted continent, Meriwether Lewis, American hero, met an ignoble end. He spent his final night in a state of dejection and delirium, calling out for his old friend William Clark in a two-room "hotel" on the banks of the Missouri River. In this play, his friend appears, and together they relive a panorama of experiences--the flash of a life before the eyes. What emerges is a portrait of two imperfect men whose powerful personal bond allowed for a fleeting greatness. Funny, heartwarming and tragic, LEWIS & CLARK & THE END OF THE WORLD is a reflection on one of the most controversial events in early U.S. history; a tribute to the strength--and a reminder of the frailty--of the human spirit.
