Esther Almazán

Esther (Yaqui/Yoeme) is a Theatre Artist from Tucson with an MFA in Dramatic Writing from Arizona State University. Her scripts have been staged for The Institute of American Indian Arts, ASU's Mainstage, Write Now, El Ojito Springs, Spinning Dot Theatre, Cadenza Theatre, Pandora Festival, and Apron Strings Project. Her play, Indian School, received the Kennedy Center Latinx Playwright Award for Distinguished Achievement, the ariZoni Theatre Awards of Excellence, and was a semi-finalist for the Eugene O'Neill NPC. She has directed for Borderlands Theater, Something Something Theatre, Beowulf Alley Theatre, ASU TheatreLAB, SheWorXX, and Winding Road Theater Ensemble. She is a proud recipient of the Gammage Scholar Award. Esther considers it a great honor to be directing Nagle's Sovereignty for Harlequin Productions and thrilled to be making theatre in Olympia!
