Harlequin Productions’ Summer Acting School

Harlequin is pleased once again to offer The Shakespeare Experience, a summer youth workshop for students aged 13– 19. The Shakespeare Experience is an enriching and rewarding experience for young actors, whether just starting out or experienced. This year’s program runs June 23 through July 22 two days a week. Student participation will culminate in a final performance on Wednesday, July 23. 

The course involves a thorough examination of Shakespeare: the beauty of the language, the richness of his characters, and the timeless and universal exploration of the human condition. Four professional actors will guide students in activities that will engage them in the physical and intellectual aspects of acting in an atmosphere that encourages creative expression within the discipline of acting. 

For this year’s program, we are able to accept up to 50 students. Tuition is $475. Some scholarships are available.

Enrollment is by audition. The next audition date is Saturday, May 31, 2008. You may fill out our Online Audition Form or Print a Paper Copy to mail or fax in. Auditions are by appointment only.

Auditioners should come prepared to give two (contrasting) one-minute monologues, at least one from Shakespeare. Auditioners will also be asked to sing 16 bars of a song a cappella.

Selected students from the program may be invited to join the cast of Harlequin Productions’ upcoming fall production of Antony & Cleopatra.
